House Renovation Greenwich

The renovation of a 1980′s luxury spec house in the village of Greenwich, CT.

In construction.

The Greenwich House project was a three-phase renovation of a luxury spec-house – a rare example in which the home was actually well-built using solid materials such as brick, and thick, properly insulated walls. The bones of the house emulate a Grand-style of Architecture, both in its proportions and its overall structure. However, the home was built in an older style, wherein the rooms were darker and more closed-off to the rest of the space and the outdoors in general.

The project was done in three phases so the owner could continue to live in the house. One month out of each year, we would work on a separate portion of the house. The first phase consisted of mostly decorative upgrades, such as refinishing the house with a high-end, high-gloss paint. The second phase was more structural, and involved revising the kitchen in relation to the newly-connected family room and outdoor patio. For the kitchen and eat-in area, we opened up the walls between the rooms and added new windows to expose the sunrise in the East, and sunset in the West. To maintain and enhance the grandiosity of the home, we added top of the line appliances such as a Lacanche stovetop and range, Calacatta Gold marble slabs, Waterworks custom kitchen cabinetry, Morris lighting, and BDDW furniture.

The third and final phase is the renovation of the master suite. This phase is still in progress – stand by.
